Chittaranjan Das was a prominent Indian leader, politician, lawyer, poet and journalist. Along with being an important nationalist leader, he was also a successful jurist. During the freedom movement, he defended Arvind Ghosh, accused of "Alipore Conspiracy Case" (1908). Chittaranjan Das gave up his ongoing advocacy and participated in Gandhiji's Non-Cooperation Movement and fully got into politics.

Chittaranjan Das was born on 05 November in Kolkata (India). His full name was Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das and his entire family was full of lawyers. His father's name was Bhuban Mohan Das and mother's name was Nistarini Devi. His father was one of the well-known lawyers of the Calcutta High Court. And his father used to write poems as well. He was the only child of his parents.
Chittaranjan Das died on 16 June 1925 (age 55) in Darjeeling, British India due to illness.
Chittaranjan Das's family was a family of lawyers. Chitranjan Das's elder brother Satya Ranjan passed matriculation from Emmanuel College and was in the Middle Temple during 1883–1886, and Chittaranjan Das also lived with his elder brother during 1890–1894. Living together he followed suit by Satish Ranjan Das (1891–1894), Jyotish Ranjan Das and Atul Prasad Sen (1892–1895). In London, he befriended Sri Aurobindo Ghosh, Atul Prasad Sen and Sarojini Naidu and together with others promoted Dadabhai Naoroji to the British Parliament.
