Geeta Phogat is an Indian freestyle wrestler. She won India's first gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games in 2010. Also, Geeta is the first Indian woman wrestler who qualified in the Olympics.

Geeta Phogat was born on 15 December 1988 in Balali village, Haryana. Her father's name is Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestler and recipient of Dronacharya Award. Her mother's name is Daya Kaur. Geeta is the eldest of her three sisters in the family, she has two sisters named Ritu Phogat and her youngest sister's name is Sangeeta Phogat.
Geeta Phogat did her early education from Deeksha Bhiwani School. And she did his college studies from MDU University Rohtak Haryana.

Phogat won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship held in Jalandhar, Punjab from 19 to 21 December 2009. She won India's first gold medal in women's wrestling at the Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi, winning the gold medal for Australia. Match with a score of 1–0, 7–0 this was due to a 5 point finish. Phogat won a gold medal at the Wrestling FILA Asian Olympic qualification tournament held in April 2012 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She has undergone rigorous training at Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports, (NSNIS, Patiala) under the guidance of head coach OP. Yadav and foreign expert Ryan Dobo. At the 2012 World Wrestling Championships held in Canada, Phogat won a bronze medal. In the first round, Phogat faced Maria Gurova of Russia, beating her 3: 1. The second round saw a 5: 0 loss to Phogat against Japan's Saori Yoshida. With the Japanese grappler making it to the finals, Phogat contested the repechage round, first against Akzia Dautbeva of Kazakhstan, whom she defeated 3: 1 and then a 3: 0 bronze medal from Natalia Sinshin of Ukraine.

In the first round of the 2012 Asian Wrestling Championships, Phogat lost to his Japanese rival Kanako Murtala in a 5: 0 scoreline. With the Japanese grapevine entering the finals, Phogat was able to compete in the bronze medal round and won the bronze medal by defeating Sumiya Erdenmemeg of Mongolia in the 55 kg category. In the tournament held in Johannesburg, South Africa, Phogat finished second and won the silver medal in the women's freestyle 59 kg category after losing the final bout to Oluwafunmilayo Adeniyi of Nigeria. At the 2015 Asian Wrestling Championships in Doha, Phogat finished third and won a bronze medal in the freestyle 58 kg category alongside Aime Abdildina of Kazakhstan. At the 2015 World Championships in Las Vegas, she drew against the nine-time world champion, Japanese Kaori Icho and lost 0–10 to them in the opening round. With Echo qualifying for the finals, Phogat was given a chance to fight for the bronze medal in a repechage. She again lost 0–10 to her opponent, Elif Jale Yelsilmak of Turkey.
