Nita Ambani is the wife of India's richest industrialist Mukesh Ambani and the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation. Nita Ambani is the first Indian woman to join the International Olympic Committee (IOC). According to the rules, once a member of this committee is elected, that member remains in the IOC till the age of 70. Nita Ambani has received this honor at the grassroots level in India, from football to basketball and her contribution in the field of education and sports.

Nita Ambani was born on 01 November 1964 in a middle-class family in Mumbai. His father's name is Ravindrabhai Dalal and mother's name is Purnima Dalal. His father was working in a high-ranking position in a company of Birla.
Nita Ambani completed her bachelor's degree in commerce from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, and did Bharatanatyam from an early age and became a professional Bharatanatyam dancer.

Nita is the daughter of Ravindrabhai Dalal and Purnima Dalal. She has a sister Mamta Dalal, who works as a school teacher. Ambani grew up in a middle-class environment in suburban Mumbai. She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. He met Mukesh Ambani when he was a school teacher and married her in 1985. After marriage, he worked as a teacher for a few years. Ambani is the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, the CSR arm of Reliance Industries. He is also the owner of Mumbai Indians.

These new members were elected in the first week of August 2016 during the 129th IOC session. Ambani was elected as a member of the IOC on 4 August 2016, becoming its first Indian woman member.


In 2005, she has also been awarded the Social Service Vishwa Bhushan on behalf of Bharat Nari Shakti Sangathan on International Woman's Day. He has received the 2012 Corporate Citizen of the Year award from AIMA. For his initiative on grassroots sports, Ambani received the "National Sports Award 2017" from the President of India. He is the recipient of the award for the best corporate supporter of Indian sports given by the Times of India.
