Saina Nehwal is a famous badminton player of India. She is currently the world's top-ranked female badminton player and is the first Indian woman to reach this milestone. She is the only female player to be seeded first for the third time in a month. She is the first Indian player to do so in badminton. She is the first Indian to win the BWF World Junior competition. She plays in the Indian Badminton League on behalf of the Awadh Warriors.

Saina was born on 17 March 1990 in a Jat family in Hisar, Haryana. His father's name is Dr. Harveer Singh and his mother's name is Usha Nehwal. His name is named after Sai, his parents were both badminton players. He also has an elder sister, Chandravanshu Nehwal.
Saina Nehwal studied her first few years at the campus school CCS HAU, Hisar. She finished 12th standard from St. Ann's College for Women, Hyderabad.

Saina Nehwal was interested in badminton since childhood as both her parents were badminton players. So his father gave him full support and encouragement from childhood. Saina started playing badminton at the age of 8, her initial training at the "Lal Bahadur Stadium" in Hyderabad, under the conservationof coach Nani Prasad. In 2006, Nehwal became the Under-19 National Champion and created history by winning the "Asian Satellite Badminton Tournament" twice, becoming India's first player to do so. In May 2006, at the age of 16, She became the first Indian woman and youngest player in Asia to win the 4-star tournament - Philippines Open. Entering the tournament as the 86th seed, Saina overtook several top-seeded players including then-world number two Xu Huaiwen before defeating Malaysia's Julia Wong Pe Jian for the title. The same year Nehwal reached the final of the 2006 BWF World Junior Championships, where she lost a tough match against top-seeded Chinese player Jiang Yanjiao. He also participated in the 2006 Doha Asian Games. In 2007, at the young age of 17, Nehwal went on to compete in All England, where he challenged veteran Wang Chen in Round 2, but lost 3 games 21–17, 13–21, 16–21. He represented India at the Sudirman Cup in Scotland in 2007.

At the 2007 BWF World Championships, they won their opening matches against Jeanine Cignogini of Switzerland and 13th seed Julian Schenk of Germany but lost in the next round of French houseings with a score of 13–21, 17–21. She was a finalist in the 2007 Indian International Challenge where she lost to Kanako Yonekura in 2 matches. Saina became the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championship in 2008. Due to which Nehwal was named "The Most Promising Player" in 2008 by the Badminton World Federation. In June 2009, she became the first Indian to win the BWF Super Series title, winning the Indonesia Open to secure her place in the world's most prominent badminton series. Became the first Indian woman to reach the semi-finals of All England in 2010. Nehwal was ranked number 3 in the women's singles badminton world rankings on 24 June 2010. After which on 15 July 2010, with 64791.26 points, Nehwal reached the high world ranking of No. 2 behind Wang Yihan of China. On 17 June 2012, Nehwal won the third consecutive Indonesia Open by defeating Li Zeurui. On 26 January 2014, Nehwal won World Championship bronze medalist P.V. Sindhu won the 2014 India Open Grand Prix Gold tournament from 21-14, 21–17. On 29 June 2014, in the final of the Australian Super Series, Nehwal won the title by defeating Carolina Marin of Spain 21–18 21–11.
