Sarojini Naidu - First lady governor (1947)

Sarojini Naidu was the first woman president of the Indian National Congress. She was elected the first woman governor of the country after independence. She was a poet and politician. Rabindranath Tagore first called him "Bharat Nightingale". Sarojini Naidu was honored as a poet for "Nightingale of India" by Mahatma Gandhi.

Sarojini Naidu was born on 13 February 1879 in Hyderabad. His full name was Sarojini Govind Naidu. His father's name was Aghornath Chattopadhyay and mother's name was Varada Sundari. His father was a scientist and educationist and his mother was a poet who wrote poems in Bengali. Sarojini was the eldest of eight siblings. He had a brother Virendranath who was a revolutionary and a brother Haridranath who was a poet, storyteller and artist.
Sarojini Naidu died of a heart attack on 2 March 1949 (age 70) in Lucknow, United Provinces, India. It is said about them that when she was in the hospital, she told the nurse that I would sing the song at around 10:40 pm, so that I could sleep.
Sarojini Naidu passed her matriculation examination at the age of twelve from Madras University, and took a break of four years in her studies. In the year 1895, H.E.H. Mahboob Ali Khan, the Nizam's charitable trust established by the 6th Nizam, gave him the opportunity to study in England, first studying at King's College, London and later at Girton College, Cambridge.

He was appointed the Governor of the state of Uttar Pradesh soon after Indian independence. Sarojini Naidu first met Mahatma Gandhi in London in 1914 and Gandhiji's personality impressed him greatly. She was an associate of Gandhiji in South Africa. She considered Gopalkrishna Gokhale her "political father". He was called a "jester in Gandhiji's small court" because of his humorous nature. Sarojini Naidu led many national movements and also went to jail. Naidu joined the Indian independence movement in the wake of the partition of Bengal in 1905. In 1925 she became the first Indian woman president of the Kanpur session of the Indian National Congress. Angry at the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, he returned the "Kaiser-e-Hind" honor he received in 1908. In the Quit India movement, he was punished in the Aga Khan palace. She became the first woman governor of Uttar Pradesh.

Naidu also presided over the 1929 session of the East African and Indian Congress in South Africa. Naidu was arrested for participating in March 1930 along with other Congress leaders including Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Madan Mohan Malaviya. The Indian National Congress decided to stay away from the first round table conference in London due to the arrest. However, in 1931, Naidu and other leaders of the Congress Party attended the Second Round Table Conference chaired by Viceroy Lord Irwin in view of the Gandhi-Irwin Pact. After India's independence from British rule in 1947, Naidu was appointed as the Governor of the United Provinces (present-day Uttar Pradesh), making her the first woman Governor of India. She held the post until her death in March 1949.
