The India men's national cricket team, also known as the Men in Blue Team India is currently governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and conducts Tests, One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). ) is a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with status.
History of Indian National Cricket:
Cricket was introduced to India by British sailors in the 18th century, and the first cricket club was established in 1792. But the India national cricket team played its first Test match at Lord's until 25 June 1932, and became the sixth team in the world to have Test cricket status. In the year 1848, the Parsi community in Bombay formed the Oriental Cricket Club, the first cricket club to be established by Indians. After a slow start, Europeans finally invited Parsis to play a match in 1877. Until 1912, Parsis, Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims of Bombay played a quadrennial tournament with Europeans every year. India had to wait for almost 20 years till 1952 for its first Test victory from 1932. But in their first fifty years of international cricket, India were one of the weaker teams, winning only 35 of the 196 Test matches played earlier. India registered its first Test victory, in its 24th match, against England at Madras in 1952. Later in the same year, he won his first Test series, which was against Pakistan. He continued his improvement in the early 1950s with a series win against New Zealand in 1956. The team improved further with the inclusion of Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble in the national team in 1989 and 1990. The following year, Javagal Srinath became India's fastest bowler since Amar Singh. After Sri Lanka were eliminated by neighbors on home ground in the semi-finals of the 1996 Cricket World Cup, the team underwent a one-year change, as Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, the latter becoming captains of the team, made their Test debuts at Lord's. Tendulkar replaced Azharuddin as captain in late 1996, but after an individual and team slump, Tendulkar relinquished the captaincy and Azharuddin was reinstated in early 1998. With the captaincy burden removed, Tendulkar was the world's leading run-scorer in both Test matches. Under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly and under the guidance of John Wright, India's first overseas coach, the Indian team made major improvements. India maintained their unbeaten home record against Australia in the Test series after the win in 2001. The series was famous for the Kolkata Test match, after which India became only the third team in the history of Test cricket to win a Test match. Australian captain Steve Waugh labeled India as the "Final Frontier" due to its inability to win a Test series in India. The 2001 victory against Australia marked the beginning of a dream run for India under their captain Sourav Ganguly, winning Test matches in Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, West Indies and England. The England series is also noted for India's highest ODI run-away of 325 runs at Lord's, which came in the final of the NatWest ODI series against England. In the same year, India were joint winners of the ICC Champions Trophy with Sri Lanka and then went on to the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, where they reached the final, only to be beaten by Australia. The 2003–04 season also saw India play a Test series in Australia, where they drew 1–1 with world champions and then won a Test and ODI series in Pakistan.

The Indian cricket team did not perform very well in the early history of ODIs, but till now Mahendra Singh Dhoni has proved to be the most successful captain of ODI cricket in the Indian cricket team. List of captains of T20 matches of Indian cricket team:
Virender Sehwag was the first captain of the Twenty20 Indian team. Team India has played a total of 135 matches so far in Twenty20. In which 83 matches were won and 44 matches were lost. Virender Sehwag captained the Indian cricket team in the year 2006. After Sehwag, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has so far captained better T20 matches for Team India, under his captaincy, the Indian team won 41 T20 matches but lost 28 T20 matches.
