We present models in which the observed fermion masses and mixings are generated by dynamically localizing the three generations of matter in a flat compact extra dimension. We first construct models assuming the hierarchy problem is addressed by the existence of large extra dimensions, i.e. the fundamental scale is not far above a TeV and supersymmetry is not imposed. These models are compactified, chiral, and don't require fine-tuning to generate the top mass. Limits on the compactification… Expand

Abstract We discuss a toy model in six dimensions that predicts two fermion generations, natural mass hierarchy and intergenerational mixing. Matter is described by vector-like six-dimensional… Expand

Flavorful Supersymmetry from Higher Dimensions

We present models of flavorful supersymmetry in higher dimensions. The Higgs fields and the supersymmetry breaking field are localized in the same place in the extra dimension(s). The Yukawa… Expand

We investigate a class of extra dimensional models where all of the Standard Model fermions are localized to a single fixed point in an S{sub 1}/Z{sub 2} orbifold, and each species is localized with… Expand

Abstract We suggest a simple model which produces the suitable fermion mass hierarchies and flavor mixing angles based on the 6-dimensional N =1 supersymmetric SO (10) grand unified theory… Expand

We construct a left-right symmetric (LRS) model in five dimensions which accounts naturally for the lepton flavor parameters. The fifth dimension is described by an orbifold, S_1/Z_2 times Z'_2, with… Expand

A possible resolution of the flavor puzzle is that the fermion mass hierarchy can be dynamically generated through the coupling of the first-two-generation fields to a strongly coupled sector, which… Expand
