Falaknuma Palace Overview

Falaknuma Palace is a luxurious five star hotel located in the city of Hyderabad, capital of the Indian state of Telangana. This Paigah is related to the Hyderabad State, which was later annexed by the Nizams. The literal meaning of Falaknuma is "Like the sky" or "Mirror of the ky". Falaknuma Palace History

This palace is one of the best places in Hyderabad. It was built by Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra, the Prime Minister of Hyderabad and uncle and son-in-law of the sixth Nizam. This palace was designed by an English craftsman.

The Foundation stone of its creation was laid by Sir Waikar on 3 March 1884. He was the great-grandson of Khuddus and a friend of Sir Charles Darwin.

Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra, the Prime Minister of Hyderabad, used this place as his personal residence as long as it remained with him, later his wife Lady-ul-Umra gifted the palace to the 6th Nizam of Hyderabad. The form was handed over, in return for which he got all the money spent on it. The Nizam started using this palace as a Royal guest house, as it had a view of the entire city.

  1. The palace is completely built with Italian marble with stained glass windows and is covered over an area of ​​about 1,011,500 square feet.
  2. The palace was built in the shape of a scorpion with two wings covered ing to the north.
  3. The central part of the Palace comprises the main building, the kitchen, the Gol Bangla, the Zenana Mahal and the Haram Quarter to the south.
  4. The construction of this palace took a total of 9 years.
  5. At that time the palace was constructed at a cost of about 40 lakh rupees.
  6. The service of telephone and electrical system was started in this palace by Osler in 1883.
  7. According to statistics, the switch boards available in this palace are one of the largest switch boards available in India.
  8. The palace fell in the 1950s. The last important guest to come here was Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the then President of India who came in the year 1951.
  9. The palace was the private property of the Nizam family and was not generally open to the public until the year 2000. Later the palace was taken on lease by The Taj group.
  10. In 2000, The Taj Hotel Group began to transform it into a luxury hotel and was relaunched in November 2010 with new changes, managed by Mukarram Jahan's first wife, Princess Isra.
  11. The dining hall of this palace has a seating capacity of 101 guests, which is considered to be the largest dining hall in the world. The chairs here are made of carved rosewood with green leather upholstery.
  12. This palace has 220 rooms and 22 halls. The hotel also has a library, which houses a collection of manuscripts.
  13. The Hotel also has a billiards room, whose table is unique in itself. Two such tables were made, one of which is in Birkingham Palace, England.
  14. In the year 2017 at the 8th Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad, US President Donald Trump's daughter and her advisor Ivanka Trump stayed at The Taj Falaknuma Palace.
  15. Bollywood actor Salman Khan's sister Arpita was married to Delhi-based businessman Aayush Sharma at The Taj Falaknuma Palace, for which Salman had booked this palace for around Rs 3 crore.
