Statue Of Liberty History

The History of this historical statue is associated with America and France. France assisted the United States during the American Revolution, after which the relations between the two countries had become even better. The two countries shared similar political views and circumstances in 1865.

After this, Edouard Rene Laboulaye suggested to France that it should provide the United States with a symbol of their friendship, after which France enlisted the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and the French engineer Gustave Eiffel to build the statue appointed to assist them.

He designed the heavy structure using thin round copper sheets covering a steel structure. Gustave Eiffel was the one who built the Eiffel Tower in Paris, he also made the frame of this statue. Its design and construction were considered a masterpiece of 19th century engineering.

The statue's pedestal was designed by American architect Richard Morris Hunt. Most of the parts of this statue were completed by 1884, which were later transported to America with the help of the French warship "Isre". The warship carried the idols in 350 parts, which were packed into 214 crates. This statue was made in America by 28 October 1886 and was opened to the general public.
