Tsai Ing Wen (साई इंग वेन)

She was the first woman in the Republic of China (Taiwan) to become president. Sai Ing Wen became the seventh president of China and the second president of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). She is the chairperson of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). She was the presidential candidate of her party in the 2012 and 2016 presidential elections.

Sai Ing Wen was born on 31 August 1956 in Taipei, Taiwan. His father's name was Tsei Chih-sheng and his mother's name was Chang Chin-fong. His father had four wives, his father used to run an auto repair shop and his mother was a housewife. His parents had 11 children, of which he was the youngest

During her middle school period, she studied at Taipei Municipal Zhongshan Girls' High School. But he studied law at the behest of his father. In 1978, after graduating at the National Taiwan University College of Law, Tsai received a Master of Law at Cornell University Law School in 1980. He then studied law at the London School of Economics and was awarded his Ph.D. In law from the University of London in 1984. After returning to Taiwan, he taught law in Taipei, at the University of Sowoko University and the National Chengchi University.

In 1993, he was appointed to a series of independent government positions, including trade negotiator for WTO affairs. After DPP President Chen Shui-bian took office in 2000, Tsai served as a nonpartisan in the first term of Chen as a minister on the Mainland Affairs Council. Sai Ing Wen joined the New Taipei City Mayorship in municipal elections in November 2010, but lost to another former vice president, Eric Chu (KMT). In April 2011, Sai Ing Wen became the first female presidential candidate of a major party in the history of the Republic of China, after defeating her former superior, Su Tseng-Chang, by a narrow margin in the DPP primary.

She was defeated by Kuomintang candidate Ma Ying-jeou in the 5th direct presidential election in 2012 but was elected in the sixth direct presidential election in 2016 by a landslide four years later. Tsai is the second president of the Democratic Progressive Party. He is the first president to have never held an elected executive position before serving as president and was first elected popular without serving as mayor of Taipei. Sai Ing was re-elected President with an increased share of votes in the 2020 presidential election. He was also appointed to the Fair Trade Commission and the Copyright Commission. Sai Ing-Wen is included in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2020.
