British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA Award):

The British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTA Awards, are an annual award presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. It is the US equivalent of the Oscars. Since 2008 it is held at the Royal Opera House in London. The award is hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), giving the best British and international contribution to film.

Ceremonies were held at the flagship Odeon Cinema in London's Leicester Square in 2008 before being held at the Royal Opera House from 2016 to 2016. BAFTA Awards 2023 Winners: The 76th edition of the British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTA Awards, was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The awards, presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, honor the best national and foreign films of 2022. This time the award was hosted by actor Richard E Grant. Irish film 'The Banshees of Inishrein' has won four awards at the award show. Among Indian films, All That Breathes, directed by Shaunak Sen, was nominated in the Best Documentary category.

BAFTA Awards 2022 Winners: The 75th edition of the British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTA Awards, was held on March 13, 2022, at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The awards, presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, honor the best national and foreign films of 2021. The ceremony was hosted by actress and comedian Rebel Wilson. The most nominated film was Dune with 11 nominations. The film Dune took home five trophies in the most number of awards.

Winners of BAFTA Awards 2021:

The 74th edition of the British Academy Film Awards, often shortened to BAFTA or BAFTA, is being held virtually at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The awards, equivalent to the British Oscars, honor the best in national and international cinema. Director Chloe Zhao's film "Nomadland" topped the BAFTA Film Awards 2021 by winning four awards, including Best Picture. The film's lead actor Frances McDormand won Best Actress while Zhao won the Best Director award.

The film was also a winner in the Cinematography category. After these awards for the film in BAFTA, the chances of it being the top contender in the Oscar awards ceremony to be held later this month have increased a lot. Emerald Fenell's "Me Too" drama "Promising Young Woman" was declared the best British film at the ceremony London, Apr 12 (PTI) Director Chloe Zhao's film "Nomadland" topped the BAFTA Film Awards 2021 by winning four awards, including Best Picture.

Winners of BAFTA Awards 2020:

On 2 February 2020, the 73rd British Academy Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA) were held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. In which the best national and foreign films of the year 2019 were awarded. Sam Mendes' film '1917' got the Best Film Award, the film 1917 won a total of 6 awards. Joaquin Phoenix was awarded the Best Actor Award for his best acting in the film Joker. At the same time, Renee Zellweger won the Best Actress Award for the film Judy.

Winners of BAFTA Awards 2019:

Netflix's drama 'Roma' won the top prize at the 72nd edition of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts or BAFTA Awards. However, with seven BAFTA awards, director Yorgos Lanthimos's The Favorite became the top winner in 2019. Actress Olivia Colman won Best Actress BAFTA for her portrayal of Queen Anne in The Favourite. Roma, along with a trophy from director Alfonso Cuarón, won four BAFTA Awards, while Bohemian Rhapsody—a Golden Globes favorite—won only one BAFTA by lead actor Rami Malek.

The BAFTA Awards are awarded annually by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) to the best feature-length film and documentaries of any nationality screened in British cinemas. Guillermo del Toro's film 'The Shape of Water' has won three awards at the 71st British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). The film was nominated in maximum 12 categories. It is the story of a woman who falls in love with a sea creature. The film has won awards in the fields of production design, music, while del Toro has received the BAFTA Award for Best Director for the film.
