When was the PEN Pinter Award established?

The PEN Pinter Prize was established in 2009 by the English PEN Foundation, the founding center of a global literary network promoting literature and human rights. The award was named after Harold Pinter, who was vice-president of the English PEN and an active member of the International PEN Writers in Prison Committee (WiPC).
The prize is awarded to "a British writer or writer of outstanding literary merit living in Britain who, in the words of Pinter's Nobel speech, keeps a 'steady, unshakable' eye on the world and 'reflects upon the real reality of our lives and of our society'". Shows a 'fiery, intellectual determination' to define the truth." Past recipients of the award include Lemon Sissey, Hanif Qureshi, Mallory Blackman, etc.

Michael Van Rosen is a British children's author, poet, presenter, political columnist, broadcaster and activist who has written 140 books. He served as the Children's Laureate from 2007 to 2009. Rosen played an important role in opening up access to children's poetry through her writing and important anthologies such as Culture Shock. He was one of the first poets to tour schools throughout Britain and Australia, Canada and Singapore. In April 2010, Rosen was awarded the Fred and Anne Jarvis Award from the National Union of Teachers for "campaigning for education". In July 2010, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Nottingham Trent University.
