Dada Bhai Naoroji was a great freedom fighter, educationist, industrialist, and social leader. Dadabhai Naoroji was the first Indian to become Professor and British MP at the Elphinstone Institute in the year 1850. He was recognized by the great personality of 'Grand Old Man of India "and' Father of Indian Nationalism.

Dadabhai Naoroji was born on 04 September 1825 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to a poor Parsi family. His mother's name was Manekbai Naoroji Dordi and father's name was Naoroji Palanji Dordi. When Dadabhai was 4 years old, his father Naoroji Palanji Dordi died. His mother was illiterate. After this, his mother Manekbai raised him.
Dada Bhai Naoroji died on 30 June 1917 (age 91 years) in Bombay, Bombay Presidency, British India.
He was educated at Elphinstone Institute School. He patronized the Maharaja of Baroda, Sayajirao Gaekwad III, and in 1874 began his career life as a Diwan (minister) to the Maharaja. Being an athoran (priest), Nayaji founded Rahnumai Mazadesan Sabha at this time he also published another newspaper called "The Voice of India". In December 1855, he was appointed Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy at Elphinstone College, Bombay, becoming the first Indian to hold such an educational position.

Dada Bhai Naoroji became the first Indian to be appointed as the Leading Professor at Elphinstone Institute at the age of only 25. In 1865, Naoroji directed and launched the London Indian Society, which aimed to discuss Indian political, social and literary subjects. In 1861 Naoroji along with Munerji Hormusji Cama founded The Zoroastrian Trust Fund of Europe. In 1867 he helped to establish the East India Association, one of the predecessor organizations of the Indian National Congress, which aimed to bring the Indian point of view to the British public. The association was instrumental in countering the propaganda by the Ethnographic Society of London, which, in its session in 1866, tried to prove Europeans inferiority to Asians. This association soon gained the support of the eminent British and succeeded in making a considerable impact in the British Parliament.

Elected to the Liberal Party in Finsbury Central in the general election of 1892, he was the first British Indian MP. In 1906, Naoroji was again elected President of the Indian National Congress. Naoroji was a radical liberal within the Congress, during this phase when opinion in the party was divided between moderates and extremists.
