Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati was a great thinker, social reformer and patriot of modern India. Saraswati was a monk and a great thinker. He always considered the power of Vedas to be paramount. He first gave the slogan "Swarajya" in 1876, which was later promoted by Lokmanya Tilak. He worked towards reviving Vedic ideologies. Subsequently, the philosopher and President of India.S. Radhakrishnan called them "modern India", as did Sri Aurobindo.

Dayanand Saraswati was born on 12 February 1824 in Tankara Morbi, Gujarat (India). His childhood name was Moolshankar Tiwari. His father's name was Karshanji Lalji Tiwari and his mother's name was Yashodabai. His father, being a tax collector, was a rich, prosperous and influential person of the Brahmin family.
There were several attempts to assassinate Dayanand Saraswati, but he survived these attempts several times, some of them being poisoned in some places, but he survived all such attempts due to his regular practice of Hatha Yoga. But on 30 October 1883 (at the age of 59) Ajmer, Ajmer-Merwara, British India (present-day Rajasthan, India) mixed small pieces of glass in his milk glass and died due to lack of adequate treatment.
Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay graduated in 1858 with a degree in Arts at Hooghly Mohsin College (founded by Bengali philanthropist Muhammad Mohsin) and later Presidency College, Kolkata.
