Google has launched its own high-end laptop Chromebook Pixel which is powered by its Chrome operating system. This is specifically for power users who have fully adopted the cloud. Chromebook Pixel, with a 4.3-million-pixel touchscreen, will have the highest pixel density of any laptop screen at present. The laptop has an Intel Core i5 processor. The local solid-state storage is just 32 GB, consumers can get one terabyte of free cloud storage space with Google's Drive service for three years. The basic Wi-Fi version of the laptop comes at $1,299 in the US.

The massive 2012 DA14 asteroid reached closest to the Earth at 23.25 on Friday at the distance of 27,700 km. It was closer than communication and weather satellites. It was a matter of 16 hours that the flyby took place after a meteorite shower injured 1,200 people in the Urals city of Chelyabinsk. Not visible through naked eye it had a brightness with an apparent magnitude of about 7.0. The asteroid was 50 metres in size and weighed about 130,000 metric tonnes.
