Shri Ravindra Kumar has taken charge as Director (Operations) of NTPC on 26 February 2024. Earlier he was Officer on Special Duty to Director (Operations), NTPC Limited. Kumar joined NTPC in 1989 as a graduate engineer trainee officer. He has over 34 years of experience in project commissioning, operations and maintenance, engineering and project management.

- Shri Ravindra Kumar has worked in various capacities in O&M work at NTPC Kahalgaon Project. He has experience of working in Corporate Center in Engineering Department and as Technical Assistant to Director (Technical).
- He was actively involved in the development of Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL), Bangladesh's first Friendship Supercritical Power Project. During his tenure as Chief Technical Officer (CTO), he led all engineering, construction, commissioning and O&M activities of the 660 MW first unit of BIFPCL.
- As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, he spearheaded various construction and manufacturing activities. He is a professional with corporate and site experience, people-centric approach, knowledge and experience of the entire power sector.

NTPC Limited, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation, is an Indian central public sector undertaking owned by the Ministry of Power and Government of India, engaged in power generation and other activities. The main function of NTPC is to generate and distribute electricity to the State Electricity Boards in India. The body also undertakes consultancy and turnkey project contracts which include engineering, project management, construction management and operation and management of power plants.
