The central government approved schemes worth more than Rs 3.7 lakh crore for farmers on 28 June 2023. Under this, it was decided to continue the urea subsidy scheme to ensure continuous availability of urea to the farmers at a cost of Rs 242 per 45 kg bag. The PMPRANAM scheme was also approved to encourage and encourage States and Union Territories to promote balanced use of alternative fertilizers and chemical fertilizers.

  • Urea Subsidy:- For the years 2022-23 to 2024-25, a provision of more than three lakh 68 thousand crore rupees has been made for urea subsidy. Eight Nano Urea plants to produce 44 crore liquid Nano Urea bottles equivalent to 195 LMT conventional urea in the country will be commissioned by 2025-26. This scheme launched by the government will increase the income of farmers, promote natural and organic farming, increase soil fertility and ensure food security.
  • Support for Sugar Seasoning:- The government has increased the fair and remunerative price of sugarcane by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 315 per quintal for the 2023-24 sugar season. This will benefit five crore sugarcane farmers and their dependents. Five lakh workers associated with sugarcane production and activities of sugar mills will also be benefitted.
  • Gobardhan Plants:- India is the first country in the world to produce Nano Urea. The government has approved more than one thousand four hundred and 51 crore rupees under Market Development Assistance-MDA to promote the production of organic fertilizers in Gobardhan plants. Under the Gobardhan Yojana, 500 new plants will be set up to make Kanchan from waste. The Center has also decided to produce Sulfur Coated Urea – Urea Gold to address the deficiency of Sulfur in the soil.
