Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023
The 2023–24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the sixteenth edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition held in India. It was played from 16 October to 6 November 2023. The competition was played by 38 teams, divided into five groups, with eight teams in three groups and another seven teams in two groups. The tournament was part of the 2023–24 Indian domestic cricket season, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in April 2023. Mumbai was the defending champion in this competition.
Competition between Punjab and Baroda teams
The final match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 was played between the teams of Punjab and Baroda. Punjab created history by winning this match held at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Punjab won this tournament for the first time by scoring the highest score in the Mushtaq Ali Trophy final. Before this, Punjab had reached the finals 4 times, but could not win the title.

Batting first, Punjab scored a huge score of 223 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. Anmolpreet Singh was the batsman who played the biggest innings in this match. Anmolpreet Singh scored 113 runs in 61 balls with the help of 10 fours and six sixes. At the same time, Nehal Vadhera played a stormy innings. He scored unbeaten 61 runs in 27 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 6 fours.
While scoring 224 runs, Baroda team could score only 203 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 20 runs. Abhimanyu Singh Rajput scored the highest score of 61 runs for Baroda. Whereas, Ninad Rathwa scored 47 runs and captain Krunal Pandya scored 45 runs.
Punjab team had lost two wickets for 18 runs in the batting of Anmolpreet Singh. After this he took charge of the team and also scored the highest individual score in the final in the history of the tournament.
At the same time, this is also the biggest score in the final of the tournament. Earlier in the 2019-20 season, Karnataka had scored 180 runs for 5 wickets against Tamil Nadu.
