2023 Indian Premier League (IPL)
2023 was the 16th season of the Indian Premier League whose final was played on 29 May 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was a day/night T20 match for the winner of the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), an annual Twenty20 tournament in India. It was organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
This time in the final, Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets to win their record fifth league title. CSK captain Dhoni after winning the IPL trophy handed it over to Rayudu and Jadeja.
The match was originally scheduled to be played on 28 May, but was postponed until 29 May due to rain – the first time an IPL final was postponed due to weather. After winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings elected to field, with Gujarat Titans scoring 214 for 4, setting a record for the highest team score in an IPL final. Due to inclement weather, the Super Kings' innings was delayed by over an hour, and the target was adjusted to 171 in 15 overs by the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method; The team would eventually win by five wickets, securing their fifth IPL title. CSK player Devon Conway was chosen as the player of the match.
On 17 February 2023, the BCCI announced the schedule for the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League. Twelve venues were determined to host the group stage. The playoff schedule was announced on 21 April. Chennai's M.A. Chidambaram Stadium was selected to host Qualifier 1 and Eliminator while Narendra Modi Stadium was selected to host Qualifier 2 and Final. Batting first, Gujarat Titans managed to score 214 for four on the back of B Sai Sudarshan's 47-ball 96.
