Joshna Chinappa is an Indian female squash player. In 2003, she became the first Indian woman to win the British Squash Championship in the Under-19 category. In the 20th Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, the pair of Joshna Chinnappa and Deepika Pallikal created history by winning India's gold medal in the squash on 02 August 2014.

Joshna Chinappa was born on 15 September 1986 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father's name was Anjan Chinappa, who ran a coffee plantation in Coorg and was also a squash player.
When she was eight years old, she considered badminton or tennis to be pursued. Eventually, he chose squash which he started playing at Madras Cricket Club. His father, who represented the Tamil Nadu squash team, was also his first coach

Her father represented the Tamil Nadu squash team, so Joshna's father was also her first coach. Joshna was the first beneficiary of the Mittal Champions Trust set up by Mahesh Bhupathi with the funding of Lakshmi Mittal. In the year 2000, Joshna won the first Junior and Senior National Championship title of her career. And when she became the youngest player to win both titles at the age of 14. Two years later, in 2003, she created history by winning the British Junior Open title in the U17 category when she was 16 years old. The following year, she reached the final of the U19 category of the same competition, but this time lost to Omena Abdel Kavi of Egypt. In 2005, she returned to the same tournament again and won the title by defeating South Africa's Tennil Swartz. In July 2005, Joshna competed in the World Junior Squash Championship in Belgium, winning it.

Joshna won her first WISPA Tour title in 2008, in 2010, she won the German Ladies Open. Returned after a seven-month break in May 2012, she won the WISPA title at her hometown Chennai Open in 2012. In the year 2015, Joshna achieved the 13th highest-world level in her career, becoming the highest-ranked Indian woman player by beating Deepika in the ranking list for the first time. Joshna also won a gold medal at the 2016 South Asian Games, Guwahati, 2016, by keeping her constant vigil. In March, Joshna competed in the 2017 British Open Squash Championship. She lost in the second round match against Ranem El Velili. In February 2019, Joshna won her 18th national title at the 77th Senior National Championship.


She was the first Indian to win the British Junior Squash Championship title in the under-19 category in 2005 and was also the youngest Indian female national champion. He is the current record holder of most national championship wins, with 18 titles.
