Telangana government has announced Indiramma Housing Scheme for the poor on 3 March 2024. Under the scheme, the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to build houses to those who already have a residential plot. To benefit the poor who do not have a plot, a piece of land and Rs 5 lakh will be given under the housing scheme.

About Indiramma Housing Scheme

Indiramma Housing Scheme (INDIRAMMA) is a mass housing scheme launched by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This includes people living in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh state. It started in the year 2006 when YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and his aim was to make the state slum-free.

Benefits of Indiramma Awas Yojana

  • This scheme provides money to people below the poverty line. Government support continues in 2013
  • For open category (upper caste) and backward classes, it will provide Rs 45,000 to Rs 70,000 in rural areas and Rs 55,000 to Rs 80,000 in urban areas.
  • In the initial phase, 3,500 houses will be sanctioned in each assembly constituency, benefiting many recipients.
  • Landowners will get Rs 5 lakh for construction on their plots, while the homeless will get the same amount along with a plot for construction of a house, thereby increasing support for the economically deprived.

Objective of Indiramma Indu Awas Yojana

The main objective of launching Indiramma Indu Awas Yojana 2024 is to help the economically unstable citizens of Telangana state to buy permanent houses. With the help of this scheme, financially unstable citizens will not have to depend on anyone else to buy a house in Telangana state. With the help of this scheme, Telangana state government can significantly reduce the number of homeless citizens or citizens living on rent.
