Archana Ramasundaram is the Director General of the Armed Forces Force of India. She is the first woman officer to lead a paramilitary force. Prior to this she was the Director of National Crime Records Bureau.

Archana Ramasundram was born on 01 October 1957 in India. His father's name was Kamta Prasad Mishra. Kamta Prasad Mishra was a judge in the Rajasthan Judicial Service.
She made his career as a police officer after graduating in Economics from Rajasthan University. She joined the Indian Police Service in 1980 and is the only female officer of 1980 batch.

Archana Ramasundaram joined the Indian Police Service in 1980 and was the only female officer of 1980 batch. In 1989, he completed a Master of Science in criminology from the University of Southern California. In May 2014, she joined the CBI as Additional Director and was the first woman officer in India to be inducted into the Central Bureau of Investigation as Additional Director. Her appointment was legally considered illegal by the Tamil Nadu government in the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court ruled against Archana's appointment.

She was suspended from the post of DGP by the Tamil Nadu government for not requesting permission before appointment. He was appointed as the Director General of the National Crime Records Bureau. However, he was nominated for the post of CBI chief in 2017, despite the controversial selection of CBI in 2015. Prior to being appointed to the CBI, Ramasundaram was the DGP and the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board. In July 2018, Archana was replaced by Rajni Kant Mishra as the new Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal. Archana retired from IPS in 2018, a career that worked for 37 years.
