Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha was a famous parliamentarian, educationist, advocate and journalist of India. He was the first president of the Constituent Assembly of India. Satchidananda Sinha was elected representative in the Central Legislative Council after defeating four Maharajas in the election of 1910. He was also a member of the Privy Council.

Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha was born on 10 November 1871 in Murar village of Buxar district. He was from a wealthy Kayastha family. His father's name was Bakshi Shiv Prasad Sinha, who used to be the chief tehsildar of Dumraon Maharaj.
Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha died on 6 March 1950 (age 78 years) in Patna, Bihar, India.
He studied law in London and became a barrister. On returning home from England, in 1891–92, he demanded a separate Bihar state and started a movement. At that time he was barely twenty years old. And only a few days were in the post of Chairman.

When the Constitution for India began to be formulated on 09 December 1946, Dr. Sachchidananda Sinha was appointed the first President of the Indian Constitution keeping in view the experience and competence. Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha is the first Indian man who is credited with being the Governor of a province and a member of the House Lords. In 1921, Dr. Sinha was made the Earth Secretary and Law Minister for 5 years and thus he became the first Hindustani who rose to this position. The post of General Secretary of the 27th session of the Congress, headed by Rao Bahadur Ragunath Madholkar, was held by Sachidanand Sinha on 26-28 December 1912 at Bankipur Patna.
A constituent college of Aurangabad is dedicated to him and his name was Sachchidananda Sinha College, which was founded by the eminent Gandhian Anugrah Narayan Sinha as well as Akhauri Krishna Prakash Sinha before independence, in 1943, who gave him a living tribute in the name of Sinha .
