She was an Indian freedom fighter and politician. She started her career as a lecturer and later became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the first woman Chief Minister of India. He was made the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1963. She was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 02 October 1963 to 14 March 1967.

Sucheta Kripalani was born on 25, June 1908 in Ambala, Punjab, into a Bengali Brahmin family. His original name was Sucheta Majumdar, Sucheta also had a sister whose name was Shulekha.
Sucheta Kripalani died on 1 December 1974 (aged 70) in New Delhi, India. She died when she lost the 1971 election as an NCO candidate from Faizabad (Lok Sabha constituency). And in 1971, she retired from politics.
Sucheta Kripalani's father Surendranath Majumdar was a medical officer which required many transfers. As a result, she attended several schools, her final degree being a master's in history from St. Stephen's College, Delhi.

Sucheta was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. She left politics in 1939 to enter politics. Sucheta Kripalani was the first woman Chief Minister of the country. She was very close to Mahatma Gandhi in the Partition tragedy. Sucheta Kripalani was one of the few women who laid the foundation for the country's independence by staying close to Bapu. In 1940, he undertook personal satyagraha and was arrested. She was also the Minister of the Women's Department and the State Department of the All India Congress Committee in 1941–1942. He continued his successful underground movement continuously from 1942 to 1944 and was then arrested in 1944. She served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from October 2, 1963 to March 13, 1967. Before becoming the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1963, she was elected to the Lok Sabha twice in a row.

During her Chief Ministership, the state employees continued the strike for 62 consecutive days, but she agreed to a reconciliation with the staff leaders only when her attitude softened. While Sucheta's husband Acharya Kripalani was a socialist herself. He was sentenced to prison for participating in the freedom movement. In 1946 she was elected a member of the Constituent Assembly. From 1948 to 1960 she was the General Secretary of the Indian National Congress. In the Quit India movement, Sucheta Kripalani taught girls drill and sticks. Walked with Gandhiji in the riot affected areas of Noakhali and helped the women suffering. Vande Mataram sang in the Constituent Assembly on August 15, 1947. Sucheta was last elected to the Lok Sabha from Gonda in 1967. She was first influenced by communism and then fully Gandhian.
