Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister J Jayalalitha has won a crucial bypoll that seals her provisional Chief Minister’s position. Jayalalitha won the poll from Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency by a margin of more than 1,51,252 votes from her closest contender from CPI – Mahendran. While the AIADMK chief received 1,60,921 votes, Mahendran received just 9,669 votes.

Chennai Metro’s first phase was launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa through video conferencing. Each metro will have four coaches, where maximum capacity of every coach will be 1276 passengers. The total stretch the metro will cover is 10 kms, right from South Chennai’s Alandur to North Chennai’s Koyabedu. It will take the metro 18 minutes to cover the entire stretch, which will include seven stations.

Reports say that inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India has increased by 112 per cent in April 2015, when compared to same period last year. In relation to March 2015, the total FDI inflow in April 2015 has increased by a mammoth 71 per cent. Amitabh Kant, secretary of DIPP, said that he is confident that India will receive record amount of capital inflows in the 2015-16 fiscal, owing to ease in business environment. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that BSNL is going to provide its mobile subscribers free incoming roaming call facility from 15 June for one year and said that BSNL is recovering currently. BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava in a press meet said that this decision will of course reduce their revenue but they expect to offset the loss by the increase in number of subscribers due to the first mover’s advantage before the full mobile number portability (MNP) becomes effective from July 2015.
