While the AIADMK chief received 1,60,921 votes, Mahendran received just 9,669 votes.

Chennai Metro’s first phase was launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa through video conferencing. Each metro will have four coaches, where maximum capacity of every coach will be 1276 passengers. It will take the metro 18 minutes to cover the entire stretch, which will include seven stations.

Reports say that inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India has increased by 112 per cent in April 2015, when compared to same period last year.
