History of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI):

The BCCI is a board affiliated to the World Cricket Council (ICC) which was formed in 1928 and is today a government body patronized by the Government of India. The headquarters of BCCI is in Mumbai. The main job of BCCI is to control and organize sports tournaments in India and to represent India's players in international cricket who play for India. Since cricket is much more popular than other sports in India, due to which BCCI is also counted among the richest board in the world. Apart from this, BCCI also performs other functions like monitoring the performance of the game as well as keeping the spirit of the game safe, which also includes stopping the betting on cricket and the players who violate the rules related to such sports. The board often takes decisions and also takes decisions like a life ban if found guilty in cases like match-fixing.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President 2019:

One of the most successful captains of India, Sourav Ganguly has become the 39th President of BCCI at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 23 October 2019. Due to which the 33-month-old rule of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators has come to an end. Ganguly has been unanimously nominated for the post of BCCI President, while Home Minister Amit Shah's son Jay Shah has been made the secretary. Mahim Verma of Uttarakhand has become the new vice-president. Former BCCI president and Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur's younger brother Arun Dhumal has been made treasurer while Kerala's Jayesh George has been made joint secretary. Ganguly's tenure will be only nine months and he will have to step down in July, as the provisions of the new constitution mandate a period of rest after six years.
