Digital Payments Festival

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav inaugurated the Digital Payments Festival on 9th February. On the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence and India's G20 Chairmanship, efforts are being made to enhance access to easy and convenient digital payment solutions for all citizens.
The Digital Payments Festival, which runs from February 9 to October 9, has a special focus on people living in remote locations. Small traders and street vendors will be included in these. It is a campaign that will showcase India's digital transformation journey with various programs and initiatives.

Highlights of the festival:-

  • An extraordinary campaign called "Digital Pay Fest" will highlight India's digital transformation path through multiple events and activities from 9th February to 9th October 2023.
  • The digital payments festival has a special focus on the cities hosting the G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) meeting, namely Hyderabad, Pune and Bengaluru and Lucknow.
  • The event will also see the release of a co-branded QR code of the G-20, a coffee table book showcasing India's journey of global leadership in digital payments and digital inclusion.
  • There will also be launch of innovative products from various banks making digital payments simple and easy to use.
  • Digital Pay Sandesh Yatra will also be taken out which aims to make citizens aware about various digital payment solutions and sensitize them about the safety and security of digital payments.
  • As a result a regular person will be able to make payments using voice commands in their own language.
