Virat has become the second Indian cricketer to cross the mark of 25000 runs in international cricket. Before him, Sachin has 34357 runs in 782 innings at an average of 48.5 in international cricket.
Kohli achieved this feat in India's second innings on the third day of the second Test against Australia on 19 February 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the capital Delhi. In the 12th over of India's second innings, Kohli hit the first ball of the over to long-on off Nathan Lyon and crossed the 25,000-run mark at the fastest pace in international cricket.
Kohli has completed his 25000 runs in international cricket in the lowest 549 innings at an average of 53.7 and with this he has become the first batsman in the world to score the fastest 25 thousand runs. In his second innings, Virat scored 20 runs in 31 balls with the help of three fours. He was stumped by Todd Murphy.
Apart from Sachin and Virat, the other batsmen in the world who have crossed the 25000 runs mark in international cricket are Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka, Ricky Ponting of Australia, Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka and Jacques Kallis of South Africa.
