Bachendri Pal earned his M.A. and B.Ed D.A.V. Completed from Post Graduate College, Dehradun. He started participating in mountaineering at the age of just 12, one he reached 13,123 feet (3,999.9 m) high during a school picnic with his friends. At the invitation of her school principal, she was sent to the college for higher studies and became the first girl to climb Mt. in 1982 during her course at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. During that time, she was employed as an instructor at the National Adventure Foundation (NAF), which established an adventure school to train women to learn mountaineering.
