Meaning of politician:
A politician, political leader or political figure is a person who is involved in influencing public policy and decision-making. This includes those who hold decision-making positions in government, and those who seek those positions, whether by election, inheritance, coup, appointment, conquest, divine right, or other means.
Politics is not limited to governance through public office. Political offices may also be held in corporations, and other entities that operate by self-defined political processes or may be known as freedom fighters.
History of Politics and Political Studies:
Political science has a long history. It originated in the ancient period of Greece, when there were small towns of the Greek state. City states were called polis in Greek. The word politics is derived from the Greek word polis. The Greek philosopher Aristotle named his world famous book Politics. Over time, there have been some changes in the name of the subject of the multilateral study of the state, and eventually most authors named the subject political science.
