MS Swaminathan Award 2024 Winners
Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Professor BR Kamboj has been awarded the prestigious MS Swaminathan Award for his contribution as a scientist and extension specialist in the field of agricultural sciences. Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot presented him the award. This award ceremony took place in the international conference organized on the theme 'One Health One World' at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. A special committee constituted for the MS Swaminathan Award selected Professor BR Kamboj for his outstanding achievements in the field of education, research, technology development and extension in agricultural sciences.

Vice Chancellor Prof. BR Kamboj is well aware of the common problems, needs and socio-economic conditions of farmers. The agricultural recommendations derived by Professor Kamboj from his research work and collaborative extension activities with the University scientists have consistently proven to be highly beneficial to the farmers. Professor Kamboj has published about 300 research papers and articles in national and international journals, books and technical journals.
About MS Swaminathan Award
The Swaminathan Award was established in 2004 with the objective of recognizing the lifetime contribution of distinguished individuals who have made great impact and outstanding contribution to agricultural research and development and the overall food security and sustainability of agriculture with special reference to India. It is named after the pioneer of Indian agriculture Professor MS Swaminathan, Chairman, MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai. It is a biennial award constituted by the Retired Indian Agricultural Research Employees Association (RICAREA) and Nuziveedu Seeds Limited (NSL).
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh (Rupees Two Lakh only), a medal and a citation. The award is open to everyone, regardless of nationality.
