Khudiram Bose was a revolutionary who hanged himself for the independence of India at the age of only 19 years. Khudiram Bose had started participating in political activities since school days. In those days, even small Indian school children hated the British. They used to join the procession and shout slogans against English imperialism.

Khudiram Bose was born on 03 December 1889 in Habibpur village, Midanpur district, Bengal (India). His father's name was Trilokya Nath Bose and his mother's name was Lakshmipriya Devi. His father served as Tehsildar in Nerjol. His parents had four children, he was the fourth child in the family after his parents' three daughters. His elder sister's name was Aparpa Roy.
On August 11, 1908, this brave revolutionary was hanged. When Khudiram was martyred, he was 19 years old. Khudiram became so popular after the court hanged him for killing Kingsford in Muzaffarpur, Bengal Presidency, British India, now Bihar, India, that the Khulirams of Bengal started weaving a special variety of dhoti.
He lost his mother when he was six years old. His father died a year later. Apparpa Roy, his elder sister, brought him to his house in Hatgachha village under Daspur police station. Aruppa's husband Amritlal Roy enrolled her at Hamilton High School in Tamluk. But later he became famous as a martyr.

In 1902 and 1903, Sri Aurobindo and Sister Nivedita visited Midnapore. He held a series of public lectures and private sessions with the existing revolutionary groups for independence. A teenager, Khudiram, was an active participant in the discussion about the revolution. He became a volunteer at the age of 15 and was arrested for distributing leaflets against British rule in India. At the young age of 16, Khudiram participated in planting bombs near police stations and targeted government officials. In 1907, Barindra Kumar Ghosh arranged for his colleague Hemachandra Kanungo to go to Paris to learn bomb-making techniques from Russian revolutionary Nicholas Safransky in exile.

After returning to Bengal, Hemachandra and Barindra Kumar again collaborated and chose Douglas Kingsford as the next target. In 1905, he also participated actively in the movement against the partition of Bengal (Bang-Bhang). It is believed that he was the youngest revolutionary who was hanged.
