Alluri Sitaram Raju was a revolutionary of the then Indian freedom struggle. In 1920, the views of Mahatma Gandhi had great influence on Alluri Sitaram and he advised the tribals to quit drinking and resolve their disputes in panchayats. But when Gandhiji's dream of attaining self-rule was not realized in one year, Sitaram Raju started his efforts to establish independent power by armed rebellion against the British with the help of his adivasis.

Alluri Sitaram Raju was born on 04 July 1897 in Pandurangi village, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. His father's name was Vectoram Raju and his mother's name was Suryanarayanamma.
Alluri Sitaram Raju passed away on 7 May 1924 (age 25-27 years) in Koyyuru, Madras Presidency, British India (present-day Andhra Pradesh, India) as the British got trapped in the forests of Chintapalle and tied them to a tree. Shot dead.
Contemporary reports suggest that Alluri Sitaram Raju received an illiterate education, but before becoming a monk at the age of 18 he took a special interest in astrology, herbalism, palmistry and horse riding. His father died and took care of him while in school. His uncle "Ram Krishnam Raju" was a tehsildar in Narasapur in West Godavari district. He studied at "Taylor High School" in Narasapur and then moved to Tuni with his mother, brother and sister. While living there, Alluri visited areas in Visakhapatnam district and became familiar with the needs of the indigenous people. At the age of 15, he moved to his mother's hometown, Visakhapatnam.

Alluri Sitaram Raju is also known as Alluri Ram Ram Raju or Alluri Ramchandra in India. Sitaram Raju's father died at an early age, due to which he could not get the proper education. He became attracted to spirituality through contact with his relatives and became a monk at the age of 18. Sitaram Raju founded the military organization. He made the entire Rampa region-the center of the revolutionary movement. On August 22, 1922, he made his first attack at Chintpurni. Armed with 300 soldiers. He advised the tribals in panchayats to give up liquor and resolve their disputes. But when Gandhiji's dream of achieving self-rule did not materialize in a year, Sitaram Raju started efforts to establish independent power by armed rebellion against the British with the help of his tribals.
