Meaning of Social Justice
Each section has different importance in society. Sometimes the structure of the society is such that discrimination happens at the Economic level. In such a situation, it should also affect the judicial system, it is not right. The demand for social justice intensifies due to the inequality and discrimination spread in society.
The work and thought about social justice started long back, but unfortunately, still social justice remains a dream for many people around the world. Understanding the meaning of social justice is a very difficult task. Social justice means providing opportunities for equitable growth and development to all sections of society.
Social justice ensures that no person in the society is left behind in the race for development because of class, varna or caste. This can be possible only when discrimination is removed from society.
Social Justice Efforts in India
Whenever there is talk of India in the context of social justice, we find that through the preamble of our constitution and many provisions, it has been said to ensure it.
The caste system spread in India and selfish discrimination against it proves to be an important factor in preventing social justice. In India, many government machinery like the National Human Rights Commission, National Commission for Women and Child Development, and lakhs of voluntary organizations always try to ensure that no common person suffers due to discrimination in the society.
Even today many people in India do not know the justice process for many of their basic needs, due to which many times their human rights are violated and they have to remain deprived of their rights. Today illiteracy, poverty, unemployment, inflation, and economic inequality are high in India. Because of these discriminations, social justice has become a matter of great concern.
