World Thought Day, formerly Thinking Day, is celebrated annually on 22 February by all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. It is also celebrated by Scout and Guide organizations around the world.
World Thinking Day History
In 1926, at the Fourth Girl Scout International Conference held at the Girl Scouts of Camp Edith Massey (now the Edith Massey Conference Center) in the United States, conference delegates discussed the need for a special International Day.
Thought about the worldwide spread of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world, thanked and appreciated them, their "Sisters". It was decided by the delegates that the day would be February 22, the birthdays of both Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scout movement, and Lady Olev Baden-Powell, his wife and First World Chief Guide.
World Thinking Day Objective
Thinking Day aims to bring together youth from around the world – with approximately 150 countries chosen to participate in the celebration – To celebrate international fun and friendship, as well as raise money and focus on the year's global theme. to help.
How to celebrate World Thinking Day
On the weekend closest to World Ideas Day, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world flock to ScoutLink to chat with each other and celebrate their founders. Others are involved with Thinking Day on the Air (TDOTA) using amateur radio, similar to the Scout movement's jamboree on air. Some World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts member organizations use this as an opportunity to project with their 'twin' organization, such as Canada and Dominica.
