China has appointed Qin Gang as the new foreign minister. The decision was taken by the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC). Qin, 56, will replace current Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who has been foreign minister for the past decade. The Qin gang currently operates as a Chinese subsidiary in the US. Qin's promotion has been approved by the Political Bureau, the top policy body of the Chinese Communist Party.
