The celebration of World Health Day started in 1950. Earlier in 1948, on 7th April, W.H.O. was established. In the same year W.H.O. The first World Health Assembly was held, in which it was decided to celebrate World Health Day every year from 7 April.

Why is celebrate World Health Day?
World Health Day focuses on increasing life expectancy by promoting healthy living habits and adding good health to people's lives. Today's youth are also targeted through this program to make them healthy and save them to create a healthy and free world from AIDS and HIV.
In order to make a world free from the wide spread of diseases caused by blood sucking and pathogens, WHO has also introduced disease spreading vectors like Mosquitoes (Malaria, Dengue Fever, Filariasis, Chikungunya, Yellow Fever etc.) Mitch, Moth, Sandfly, Snail etc. Bringing it to the attention of the people.

Its main objective is to raise the standard of health of the people of the world. The headquarters of the World Health Organization is located in the city of Geneva, Switzerland. India is also a member country of the World Health Organization and its Indian headquarter is located in the capital Delhi. Ethiopian doctor Tadros Adrenom Ghebreyesus has been elected as the new Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO).
