Public Service Day History
Every year April 21 is celebrated in the country as 'Civil Service Day' or 'Public Service Day' by the Government of India. It is celebrated for the excellence of all civil services including the Indian Administrative Service, and State Administrative Service. In the year 1947, it was addressed as 'Steel Frame of India' during a speech by the Home Member of Parliament Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Metcalf House in Delhi at the time of the inauguration of All India Services on 21st April.
Public Service Day Objective
The purpose of this day is to once again dedicate and commit themselves to the citizens by the members of the Indian Administrative Service, the State Administrative Service.
The day provides an opportunity to the civil servants to introspect and think about the future with the challenges of changing times. On this occasion, all officers of the Central and State Governments are honored by the Prime Minister of India for excellence in public administration.

Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration
On this day, various officers of the All India Services are rewarded for their best service, this is to bring better performance among the officers in their practice, as well as to increase and improve their work efficiency to meet the new challenges and on various policies. Opportunity to contemplate and discuss.
The Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration is presented in three categories. This scheme of honors / awards was formed in 2006, under this scheme, all officers are eligible, individually or as a group or as an organization.
The award also includes a medal, scroll and a cash amount of Rs.1 lakh. The total prize money in case of a group is Rs 5 lakh, with a maximum participant participation of Rs 1 lakh per person. The cash amount for an organization is limited to Rs.5 lakh.
