Every year 'International Press Freedom Day' is celebrated all over the world on 03rd May.
World Press Freedom Day History
World Press Freedom Day was declared by the United Nations in the year 1993, according to this day the principles of freedom of the press, the evaluation of the freedom of the press, the protection of the freedom of the press from the attack of outside elements and the service of the press. It is a day to pay tribute to the reporters.
The Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize is also awarded by UNESCO on World Press Freedom Day on 3 May every year since 1997. This award is given to a person or institution who has done remarkable work for the freedom of the press.
World Press Freedom Day Objective
The purpose of celebrating this day is to evaluate the freedom of the press, to protect the freedom of the press from the attack of external elements and to save the memories of the Journalists who died for the freedom of the press.
