Biography of Major Dhyan Chand:
Major Dhyan Chand was born on 29 August 1905 in Allahabad. During his sports career as captain, Dhyan Chand won India 3 Olympic medals in hockey in the years 1928, 1932, 1936 and is the only hockey player to have received the Padma Bhushan award so far. Which is the third highest civilian award in the country. He scored more than 400 goals in his career spanning 22 years.
During the final of the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Chand's 3 goals helped the Indians beat Germany 8-1 easily. Under Chand's guidance and representation, he took the Indian hockey team to the pinnacle of success.
