This campaign was started in view of the concerns raised in the book "Animal Machine" by Ruth Harrison. This book was published in 1964.
In this context Professor Roger Brambell presented his report. Based on this report, the British Government established the "Animal Welfare Advisory Committee" in 1967. Later this committee was converted into "Farm Animal Welfare Council" in the year 1979. According to the first guidelines of this committee, it was said that first of all the animals should have the freedom to sleep and stand. At the same time, they should also have the freedom to move and move.
In the UK, the "Animal Welfare Act 2006" led to a number of consolidations in the context of animal welfare. Several organizations have since launched several campaigns under the guidelines of the United Nations (A Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare).
