World Development Information Day History

World Development Information Day was first observed in 1973 on 24 October. Earlier on May 17, 1972, at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the need was felt to prepare public opinion on the problems related to trade and development and to disseminate information related to it. After this, on December 19, 1972, a resolution related to this was passed in the United Nations General Assembly and it was named "World Development Information Day" to draw the world's attention to development problems.

This Day is celebrated every year with the aim of drawing the attention of world public opinion to the problems of development and the need to strengthen International Cooperation to solve them.

How to celebrate World Development Information Day

Different countries celebrate it in different ways, but the purpose of all is to inform people about the problems related to trade and development and to find solutions for them and to emphasize international cooperation in this.
