What is military exercise or test called?

Meaning of Military Trials: When the army uses its resources in training and researching war or testing strategies according to actual combat, it is called Military Trials. In other words, before going into any war, working on the strengths and weaknesses of their armies, preparing them for training and challenges. In terms of military strength, India ranks 5th in the list of top most powerful countries in the world.

It is important for our country to keep its position strong, maintain coordination in all three military forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) and train them for any eventuality. Coastal Security Exercise "Sagar Kavach" A two-day coastal security exercise named “Sagar Kavach” was conducted by the Indian Navy with the Indian Coast Guard and all stakeholders engaged in the coastal security of Kerala. The joint exercise was carried out under the supervision of the Kochi Centre. Sagar Kavach is a bi-annual exercise aimed at testing the capability of the Coastal Security Mechanism and taking stock of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The exercise, to be conducted in the coastal areas of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep, assumes significance in the backdrop of the prevailing security situation in the country. This includes the Coastal Police, Coastal District Administration, Cochin Port, Fisheries Department, Customs, Marine Enforcement Wing (MEW), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Lighthouse Department and Fishery, apart from the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. The community also participated in the exercise.
4th JIMEX 2020JIMEX 4th JIMEX 2020JIMEX is a bilateral naval exercise conducted between India and Japan. It is the epitome of maritime bilateral exercise. JIMEX 2020 began in the North Arabian Sea. This year's JIMEX followed the norms of non-contact on-sea-only format due to COVID-19. The Indian Navy was represented by: (1) the indigenously built stealth destroyer Chennai (2) the Teg class stealth frigate Tarkesh (3) the Fleet Tanker. The Japan Navy was represented by: (1) JMSDF Ship Kaga (2) Guided Missile Destroyer, Ikazuchi (3) Commander Escort Flotilla-2 (4) P81 Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft, integral helicopters and fighter aircraft. Both the navies displayed a high degree of interoperability and demonstrated joint operational prowess. They conducted various advanced naval exercises in the field of maritime operations.
EX Rainbow - V 2020 The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Royal Air Force (RAF) jointly commenced the fifth edition of Exercise Indradhanush at Air Force Station Hindon on 24 February 2020. The emphasis in this edition of Yudh Abhyas is on 'Base Defense and Force Protection'. In view of the recent threats to military installations from terrorist elements, this topic of warfare exercise is very important. Exercise Indradhanush provides a platform for the Indian Air Force and Royal Air Force to share validated strategies and tactics to deal with terror threats to their establishments.
The Invincible Warriors-2020 India and UK between February 13-26, 2020. A joint military exercise 'Ajeya Warrior', 2020 is being organized between the armies of India. This is the 5th military exercise between the two countries. This joint military exercise is being organized at Salisbury Plains in the UK. In this, 120-120 soldiers from the armies of both the countries are participating. In this exercise, the 14th Battalion of the Dogra Regiment of the Indian Army is taking the spear. Earlier this exercise was held at Mahajan Field Firing Range, Bikaner, Rajasthan.
DefExpo 2020 A wide range of strategic and tactical weapon systems, defense equipment and technology developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) will be on display at the DefExpo 2020. Its 11th biennial edition is being organized in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The program will run from February 5 to 8, 2020. It is a flagship biennial program of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. This year its theme is 'India: The Emerging Defense Manufacturing Hub'. The main focus of the expo will be on 'Digital Transformation of Defence'. Its previous two editions were held in Chennai and Goa. Its prime importance will be to provide an opportunity to the Original Equipment Manufacturers to collaborate with the Indian Defense Industry and give a boost to the Make in India initiative.
Sahyog Cajun-2020 Sahyog-Kaijin, a joint military exercise between the Coast Guards of India and Japan, was held off the Chennai coast from 16 to 20 January 2020. The aim of this military exercise is to strengthen the ties between the two countries. One Japanese Coast Guard ship Ehigo, 4 Indian Coast Guard ships and one Dornier aircraft participated in the joint exercise. During this the Coast Guards of both the countries in a joint operation handled the scenario of intercepting the wrecked ship and rescuing the crew. They also performed search and rescue operations and displayed their fire fighting skills. this exercise and It was conducted on the basis of an agreement signed by the Coast Guard forces of both the countries in 2006.
Reconciliation exercise Indian Navy has postponed its multi-nation mega naval exercise "MILAN" due to the continuous spread of Coronavirus. MILAN (11th edition) was scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam from 18 to 28 March 2020. It is a biennial, multilateral naval exercise which began in 1995. Since 1995 the Navy has conducted 10 editions of MILAN exercise, which has the theme of "synergy between foreign seas" and enhanced professional interaction to learn best practices from each other. It was organized in the Andaman and Nicobar Command till 2018. It is organized under the aegis of the Eastern Naval Command. More than 40 countries were expected to participate in the exercise in 2020.
BIMSTEC Disaster Management -2020 India hosted the first Asian Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) in November 2016 in New Delhi. India will organize the first BIMSTEC Disaster Management 2017 from 10 October to 13 October 2017. A comprehensive plan is also being prepared to mitigate the effects of earthquakes and landslides.
SAMPRITI-IX A joint military training exercise ‘SAMPRITI-IX’ between India and Bangladesh will be conducted in Umroi, Meghalaya from 3rd-16th century, 2020. It aims to build, strengthen and promote positive relations between the armies of India and Bangladesh. Hosted alternately by the countries of India and Bangladesh. Mainmati Friendship Exercise 2019 Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB)  In the 3-day 'Mainmati Maitri Exercise 2019' held as a part of 'Confidence Building Measures' between India and Bangladesh at Agartala, Tripura  took. The main objective of the exercise was to plan and conduct operations related to anti-smuggling and anti-criminal activity with an aim to achieve better joint operational efficiency and border management in the area.
Disaster Control, Search and Rescue Exercise Coast Guards of India and Japan conducted a disaster control, search and rescue exercise off the coast of Yokohama on 26 June in Japan. Last year this exercise was organized in India. In this exercise, a ship named ICGS Shaunak participated in the exercise from the Indian side.
IMBEX 2018-19 The second edition of India-Myanmar bilateral army exercise, IMBEX 2018-19, began at Chandimandir Military Station, the headquarters of Western Command, Chandigarh. The objective of this six-day joint training program is to train the Myanmar delegation for participation in UN peacekeeping operations under the UN flag. The exercise includes the participation of 15 officers from the Myanmar Army and 15 officers from the Indian Army.
AUSINDEX 2019 Indian warships have started a week-long naval exercise off the coast of Western Australia. The second AUSINDEX exercise aims to enhance interoperability between Australian and Indian naval forces, executing complex naval manoeuvres. The first AUSINDEX exercise was conducted in 2015 in the Bay of Bengal. With the largest coastline in the Indian Ocean, Australia and India are natural partners in maritime security, especially in the region where India has the greatest strategic interest.
Varun 2019 Varuna naval exercise between India and France began near Goa. This bilateral naval exercise first started in 1983, has been renamed as “Varun” in the year 2001. The exercise is being conducted from May 1 to May 10. In this exercise, India is using its aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya along with MiG-29K fighter jets. From the French side, the aircraft carrier FNS Charles de Gaulle and Rafale-M Naval jets are participating in the exercise.
SIMBEX 2019 Naval Exercise The SIMBEX-2019 war exercise between India and Singapore has begun in the South China Sea. It may be noted that SIMBEX-2019 is the 26th edition of this annual exercise. The exercise will be conducted from May 16-22,  To be done by mid-2019. Indian Naval Ships Kolkata and Shakti besides long range maritime surveillance aircraft are also participating in SIMBEX-19. The beginning of this bilateral exercise was traditional From anti-submarine exercises which have progressed to Advanced Air Defense Operations, Exercise Firing on Anti Air/Surface Targets, tactical exercises etc. In the year 2018 this exercise was conducted in the Indian Ocean off the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
AL NAGAH III 2019 The exercise began on March 12, 2019, with the third joint exercise Al-Naghah-III 2019 between Indian Army and Royal Army of Oman in which 60 personnel each from both the armies participated.
Garuda-VI 2019 The exercise started in the first week of July and went on for two weeks. In which India's Sukhoi-30 fighter was the center of attraction along with France's Rafale fighter jet. It was accompanied by an IL-78 Mid Air Refueling Tanker. The War-Policy Partnership was signed between India and France in January 1998. Since 2003, the Garuda war exercise is being organized sometimes in India and sometimes in France. The first Garuda was organized in February 2003 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Since then various Garuda war exercises have been conducted in France and India. The fifth Indo-French air exercise Garuda was held in 2004 at Air Force Station in Jodhpur. Indian Air Force participation included Sukhoi-30 MKI, IL-78 tanker aircraft and Ilyushin IL-76 AWACS airborne.
Combat exercise "IndSpaceEx" The exercise will basically be a 'table-top war-game' in which people from the military and scientific community will participate. But despite being a table-top war-game, the exercise underscores the seriousness with which India is considering the need to protect its space assets and counter potential threats from countries like China.
TSENTR 2019 The multinational combat exercise named TSENTR 2019 is being organized by Russia in Orenburg. This exercise is being organized from September 9 to September 23. Armies from China, Kazakhstan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan are participating in the exercise.
Kajind-2019 The joint military exercise KAZIND-2019 between India and Kazakhstan will be held recently in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. This exercise will run from 02 October to 15 October 2019. This maneuver was first proposed from 26 August. About 100 military personnel from the Indian and Kazakhstan armies will participate in the exercise.
Indo-Thai CORPAT 2019 The 28th edition of India-Thailand Coordinated Patrol (Indo-Thai CORPAT) has been conducted from 5 September to 15 September 2019. The exercise takes place between the Indian Navy (IN) and the Royal Thai Navy (RTN). His Majesty's Thailand Ship (HTMS) Kraburi, Indian Navy (IN) Ship Kesari and Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both the navies are participating in the corporate. Since 2003, the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) and the Andaman and Nicobar Command are participating in the exercise.
EXERCISE MALABAR 2019 The 23rd edition of the trilateral maritime exercise MALABAR between the navies of India, Japan and the US is going to be held off the coast of Japan from September 26 to October 4, 2019. Rear Admiral Suraj Barry, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, onboard 2 indigenously designed and built Indian Navy Frontline Ships, Multi-role Guided Missile Frigate Sahyadri and ASW Corvette Kiltan, to participate in the exercise, at Sasebo this morning Arrived. Apart from the warships, a Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft 'P81' has also reached Japan for the exercise. The US Navy is being represented by the Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS McCambell and the long-range maritime patrol aircraft 'P8A'. JMSDF is participating with its Izumo class helicopter destroyers JS Kaga, guided missile destroyers JS Samidare and Chhokai and long range maritime patrol aircraft 'P1'.
Friendship-2019 The joint military exercise 'Maitri-2019' between the Indian Army and the Royal Thailand Army will be conducted from September 16 to September 29, 2019. The exercise will be conducted in Meghalaya. 50-50 soldiers of both the countries will participate in this exercise. The objective of this war exercise is to enhance strategic and technical skills in counter-terrorist operations.
Indo-US War Abhas 2019 India-US Yudh Abhiyan 2019, a joint military training exercise between the Indian and US defense forces is being conducted in Washington, US from 5 to 18 September 2019. This combat exercise is the largest joint exercise for defense cooperation between the United States and India and is important for focusing on counter-insurgency operations, counter-terrorism, etc. The exercise is hosted alternately between the two countries has been done and will be the 15th edition of the exercise to be held from 5 September 2019.
Ecuverine 2019 A joint military exercise ‘EKUVERIN 2019’ between the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defense Force was conducted at Pune, Maharashtra from October 7 to 20, 2019. This year, the 10th exercise of the EKUVERIN joint exercise was conducted. Its objective is to promote mutual cooperation and inter-operability between the two armies in counter-terrorist operations and both the armies will share their experience with each other.
SITMEX 2019 Indian Army and Royal Thailand Army (RTA) joint military exercise MAITREE-2019 is being conducted in Meghalaya from January 16-29, 2019. SIMBEX is an annual maritime bilateral exercise between India and Singapore.
'Chang Thang '2019 The Indian Army conducted a major rare exercise 'Chang Thang' along the China border in eastern Ladakh. Infantry, mechanized forces, T-72 tanks were used in the exercise, along with force multipliers such as artillery guns and unmanned aerial vehicles. The Indian Air Force was also involved in the exercise. This is the first such exercise in the region.
Tiger Triumph 2019 India-US joint bilateral tri-services Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise 'Tiger TriumphH' will begin on 13 November 2019. Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopters, Indian Navy ships Oshawa, Airavat and Sandhyak, and Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT) will participate from India.
Nomadic Elephant-XIV Nomadic Elephant-XIV is the 14th edition of the United Nations mandated military exercise between the two countries to train troops in counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations. The joint exercise will enhance defense cooperation and military ties between the two countries.
Him Vijay 2019 Indian Army has conducted its biggest ever mountain exercise 'Him Vijay' in Arunachal Pradesh on 07 October 2019. This is the first such exercise in the northeastern state. This type of exercise is conducted to test the mobility and communication of troops in difficult terrain. This war exercise is being conducted in three battle groups. Four thousand soldiers are joining each group. This maneuver is happening at an altitude of fourteen thousand feet. The exercise will end on October 25.
Second Edition of Sea Power India-Indonesia Navies have conducted a bilateral naval exercise 'Samudra Shakti' in the Bay of Bengal on 6-7 November 2019, the second edition of the India-Indonesia bilateral naval exercise. Its first edition was held at the port of Surabaya – Indonesia. Earlier on 4 November, KRI Usman Harun was flown to Visakhapatnam to participate in the 2nd edition of  “Samudra Shakti”.
'SHAKTI-2019 Shakti-2019: Joint military exercise between India and France is starting from 31 October 2019 in Rajasthan. 'Shakti-2019' will be conducted at the Foreign Training Node at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan. The exercise will be conducted from October 31 to November 13, 2019.
Religious guardian Dharma Guardian is an Indo-Japanese joint military exercise which started in 2018. This exercise takes place between the armies of both the countries. The latest edition of this bilateral exercise was Dharma Guardian 2019 which took place between the Indian and Japanese armies in October 2019 at Vairengte, Mizoram.

Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) The second edition of the Indian Navy (IN)-Bangladesh Navy (BN) Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) has commenced in the northern Bay of Bengal. CORPAT is an Indian Navy tactical exercise on behalf of Indian "wannabe" diplomatic ambitions rather than a multinational treaty. CORPAT has been done with Bangladesh, Indonesia and Thailand. Sindhu Sudarshan-VII The exercise will be held at Barmed and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan from November 13 to 18. During this, the army will test its military maneuvers. In this, the power of tanks, infantry vehicles and artillery guns will be tested. so, saw it is possible to know how they can be made effective in the event of war. The first phase of the exercise was held at Pokhran in October, where tanks and artillery of the Indian Army put up a tremendous display of their firepower. Exercise Za'ir-al-Bahar Bilateral maritime exercise Zair-Al-Bahr, Rora of the Sea, is being conducted in Doha, Qatar from 17-21 November 2019. The exercise is conducted between the Indian Navy and the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces. The five-day bilateral exercise is aimed at strengthening cooperation and enhancing interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces. The sea exercise will consist of a three-day Harbor Phase and a two-day Sea Phase.
Dustlick-2019 The first ever India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise Dustlik-2019 began at Chirchik training area near Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The exercise focused on counter-terrorism will continue till November 13. During the exercise, a contingent of the Indian Army will train with the Uzbekistan Army. The focus of the exercise is counter-terrorism and will continue till 13 November 2019 at Chirchiuk Training Area near Tashkent.
SCOJtEx-2019 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Joint Exercise on Urban Earthquake Search and Rescue (SCOJtEx-2019) has been inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 4 November 2019. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Government of India is hosting (SCOJTEX)-2019.
Mitra Shakti VII The seventh edition of Exercise MITRA SHAKTI VII, being held in 2019, aims to enhance interoperability and operational capability between the armies of India and Sri Lanka during their deployment as part of UN peacekeeping missions. The exercise has commenced from 01 December at Aundh Military Station, Pune.
INDRA 2019 Indra 2019 is the second edition of the joint exercise between the armed forces of India and Russia. It will be held simultaneously in Pune, Babina and Goa. Goa will host the naval phase of the exercise till 19 December. The Russian Navy is represented by ships Viktor Konatsky, Yaroslav Mudry and Alina.
Hand-in-Hand-2019 VIII The 8th edition of the joint military training exercise 'Hand-in-Hand-2019' between India and China began at the Joint Training Node at Umroi in Meghalaya. It is an annual military exercise conducted under the mandate of the United Nations. It is being organized from December 07 to December 20 2019 with a theme against terrorism.

Sagarmatha Friendship II, 2018 The second edition of the joint military exercise between China and neighboring Nepal was held in Chengdu, the capital of China's southwest Sichuan province, from September 17 to September 27, 2018.
Vostok, 2018 A large-scale joint military exercise was organized by Russia from 11 September to 17 September 2018.
Varun, 2018 The joint bilateral naval exercise Varuna 2018 between the navies of India and France was held in three maritime regions of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and South West Indian Ocean.
Slinex, 2018 The 6th edition of the joint exercise between the Indian and Sri Lankan Navies was conducted in Sri Lanka from 07 to 13 September 2018.
Kakadu The major multilateral maritime exercise, hosted by the Royal Australian Navy and supported by the Royal Australian Air Force, was conducted from 29 August to 15 September 2018. 27 countries participated in this war exercise. Indian Naval Ship Sahyadri participated in the exercise.
Pitch black 2018 A three-week joint military exercise named ‘Pitch Black 2018′ (PB-18) between the air forces of India and Australia was conducted from 24 July to 18 August 2018. Exercise Pitch Black is a biennial employment warfare exercise conducted by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). The IAF contingent will consist of 145 air-warriors, including a Garud commando team, four Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jets, a C-130 and a C-17 transport aircraft.

The objective of this military exercise was to enhance bilateral relations between the armies of the two countries and to benefit from each other's experiences in counter-insurgency operations.
Naseem Al Bahr The exercise between the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman was conducted off Oman in December 2017.
Prabal Dostki, 2017 This joint military exercise between the Indian and Kazakhstan army was held in Buffalo, Himachal Pradesh from 02 to 15 November 2017.
Flag 4 This joint military exercise was conducted between the armies of the United States, the United Kingdom, France and the United Arab Emirates.
Current, 2017 A 13-day joint military exercise between the armies of India and Bangladesh was conducted from 06 November to 18 November 2017 at CIJW School, Wiregate in Mizoram. The aim of the exercise was to provide training in operations against insurgents and terrorists as per the conditions in Jammu and Kashmir and North East.
Imbox, 2017 Held in Meghalaya between India and Myanmar from 20 to 25 November 2017.
Exercise Ekuverein, 2017 The eighth joint military exercise between India and Maldives was held in Karnataka from 15 to 28 December 2017.
Mitra Shakti – 2017 The fifth edition of joint military exercise Mitra Shakti between India and Sri Lanka was conducted in Pune, Maharashtra, in which the Indian Army was represented by the Rajputana Rifles Regiment while the Sri Lankan Army was represented by the Singha Regiment. Under this, an anti-terrorist operation was practiced in a semi-urban area.
Indra This joint military exercise between the Air Force of India and Russia was conducted in the middle of 2017.
Al-Nigah The second 'Al-Nigah' joint military exercise between Indian and Oman was held at Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh from March 6 to 19, 2017.
Varun-17 In April 2017, the Indian Western Fleet participated in the Varuna-17 bilateral exercise with the French Navy off Toulon, France. In this exercise, India has participated in INS Trishul, Mumbai and Aditya.participated with integrated helicopters.
Surya Kiran – XI Surya Kiran – XI joint military exercise was conducted from March 07 to March 20, 2017 at Pithoragarh city in the state of Uttarakhand. The Indian Army's Infantry Battalion and Nepal's Durg Baksh Battalion participated in this joint military exercise. Humanitarian assistance and disaster relief was also practiced during the exercise.
Nomadic Elephant (Pralaya Sahayam) This was the 22nd edition of the exercise between the two countries, which was conducted at Wirangale from 05 to 18 April. Special Forces Task Battalion from Mongolia and Jammu and Kashmir Rifles from India participated in it. Under this exercise, the army was trained in counter insurgency and terrorism.

Blue Flag-17 This joint exercise was conducted in the year 2017 from 02 November to 16 November 2017 at Uvda Air Force Base in central Israel. Started in the year 2013, 'Blue Flag' is a bi-annual air force exercise of Israel. This year, seven countries including Israel, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Poland, USA and India participated in the exercise.
