International Volunteer Day History

The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on 17 December 1985 (A/RES/40/212) that 05 December be observed as International Volunteer Day. The day is a global celebration to honor the participation of people in creating change at all levels, local, national and international.

On this occasion, programs like conferences, seminars, exhibitions, cleanliness campaigns, morning tea etc. are organized to create public awareness. This opportunity highlights the increasing involvement and participation of volunteers at the community level.
