International Anti-Corruption Day History

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on 31 October 2003, declaring the International Anti-Corruption Day to be observed. The day was announced by the UNGA to be observed on 09 December every year.

International Anti-Corruption Day Objective

The Purpose of International Anti-Corruption Day is to spread awareness about corruption and its eradication around the world. On this occasion, all government, private, non-government organizations and civil organizations take a pledge to fight the fight against corruption in solidarity.

In the year 2016, it was set to achieve the joint international campaign Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime are specialized organizations to organize this event.

Ram Manohar Lohia's speech in the Parliament debate on the end of corruption in India on 21 December 1963 is relevant even today.
