International Anti-Corruption Day is celebrated every year on 09 December all over the world.

International Anti-Corruption Day History

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on 31 October 2003, declaring the International Anti-Corruption Day to be observed. The day was announced by the UNGA to be observed on 09 December every year.

International Anti-Corruption Day Objective

The Purpose of International Anti-Corruption Day is to spread awareness about corruption and its eradication around the world. On this occasion, all government, private, non-government organizations and civil organizations take a pledge to fight the fight against corruption in solidarity.

In the year 2016, it was set to achieve the joint international campaign Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime are specialized organizations to organize this event.

Corruption has been a major topic of discussion and agitation in India. After a decade of independence, India was seen to be mired in the quagmire of corruption and at that time there was a debate on this matter in the Parliament. Ram Manohar Lohia's speech in the Parliament debate on the end of corruption in India on 21 December 1963 is relevant even today.

At that time Dr. Lohia had said that the relationship between throne and business has become as corrupt, corrupt and dishonest in India as anywhere in the history of the world.

Corruption adversely affects the economy of the country and every person. Political and bureaucratic corruption is very widespread in India. Apart from this, corruption is rampant in the judiciary, media, army, police etc.
