What is museum?

A museum is an institution opened to the public for the collection, research, dissemination or display of the heritage of man and the environment for the service and development of society and for the purpose of education, study and entertainment.

Indian Museum: Indian Museum is the best museum in India. It houses a rare collection of antiquities, war materials, jewelry, skeletons, mummies, fossils, and Mughal paintings, etc. The Indian Museum was established in 1814 by the Danish botanist Dr. Nathaniel Wallick. It is the oldest museum in Asia and the largest in India. There is also a 4000 year old Purashav in this museum.

The object of this museum is to acquire, preserve and study all antiquities of national importance, as well as to disseminate knowledge and entertain through them. Highlights of its collections include oriental culture, history, and natural science, as well as some specimens from other countries.
