The island of Trinidad was under Spain, from the arrival of Columbus in 1498 to the Spanish governor's surrender to Britain on 18 February 1797. During this time, Spanish, British, French, Dutch, Courland were ruled by the island of Tobago. In 1802 May Trinidad and Tobago was ceded to Britain under the Treaty of Amienz. It gained independence in 1962 and became a republic in 1976. Its economy, unlike other English-speaking Caribbean countries, is primarily based on industry.

Trinidad and Tobago, officially the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, is a country located entirely on the bipedes in the Caribbean Sea. It is north-east of Venezuela, in the south Caribbean. Its watershed shares the waters with Barbados to the north-east, Guyana to the southeast, and Venezuela to the south and west.

The economy of Trinidad is mainly dependent on the petroleum industry. Tourism and manufacturing are also important for the local economy. Tourism is a growing region, although it is less compared to many other Caribbean islands. The main agricultural products include lemon, cocoa and other products. According to the World Bank, Trinidad and Tobago ranks 69th among the world's top high-income economies. The government of this country did very well economic development of the country. The country had a growth rate of 7% between 2003-2008. It is the economic power of the Caribbean.

English is the formal language of this country (the local standard of English is called 'Trinidad English'). But the main colloquial language is two Creole languages based on English. Trinidad Creole in Trinidad and Tobagona Creole in Tobago, highlighting the country's Spanish, Indian, African and European heritage.
